Reflective Reflections
Spring 2024
With the juxtaposition between personal images alongside fashion campaigns and advertisements, I hope to convey the lack of identity or the struggle in establishing one’s identity, the line between following trends and self-expression and creativity, and the comparison of what you have versus what you see through the media. We find ourselves constantly comparing the things we do or do not have or going against the mainstream, when in reality fashion is a form of creative expression. This lack of self through fashion can be due to the storytelling through fashion brands and through the media, selling mythologies and stories. Our bodies are artificially influenced by our environments; we attempt to internalize an imaginary other through the things we have, or do not have.
